AnnaLynne McCord got candid about her difficult past this week on Cosmopolitan.com, revealing that she was raped as a teenager while looking for modeling and acting jobs in Los Angeles.
In the essay, the 26-year-old former "90210" star said she was just 18 when a male friend she thought she could trust took advantage of her.
"One night, a guy friend called. He said he needed a good night's sleep for a meeting, as he'd been crashing on someone's couch," McCord wrote in the essay. "I had known him for some time, so I said to come over and I set him up with a clean towel. We sat on the bed and talked for a while, then I fell asleep. When I woke up, he was inside me."

McCord wrote that the incident left her "reeling" at a time when her professional career was just taking off. Despite booking a role on the show "Nip/Tuck," she became depressed and started cutting herself. She later ran into her alleged attacker, according to Cosmopolitan.
"He said, 'What are you saying? What we had that night was beautiful,'" the actress wrote. "My boyfriend came around the corner, and I got away. Later, a male friend told me my attacker was going around claiming I was in love with him. Finally, something in me snapped. 'He raped me!' I said."
McCord, who is in a relationship with former "Prison Break" start Dominic Purcell, spoke about the incident last October at the Somaly Mam Foundation Gala Life is Love fundraiser in New York City, which supports women sold into
sex slavery and human trafficking, according to the Daily Mail.
"I was raped. I was abused as a child," McCord said at the program. "This is so important to me. I was suicidal, I cut my arms up. I wanted to die. I had a bottle of pills in a hotel and I was ready to end it all."
In the Cosmopolitan essay, McCord said her "strict" upbringing in Georgia made her feel like she didn't have "a voice" when it came to the sexual assault.
"My parents believed in strict 'discipline,' as they called it — I would call it abuse," McCord wrote. "The punishments were painful and ritualistic."
