At 40, Angelina Jolie said last week that she loves being in menopause and doesn't "want to be young again."

The actress entered early forced menopause earlier this year after having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in a follow-up procedure to the double mastectomy she had in 2013. Both surgeries were in response to Jolie learning she carried a gene mutation that upped her chances of getting both breast and ovarian cancer — the same two diseases that killed her mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, in 2007 at age 56.

"I actually love being in menopause," Jolie told The Daily Telegraph over the weekend. "I haven't had a terrible reaction to it, so I'm very fortunate. I feel older, and I feel settled being older. I feel happy that I've grown up. I don't want to be young again."

Jolie has chronicled her surgeries and their repercussions in a series of New York Times op-eds.

"It is not possible to remove all risk, and the fact is I remain prone to cancer," she wrote in March after the ovary and fallopian tube removal. "I will look for natural ways to strengthen my immune system. I feel feminine, and grounded in the choices I am making for myself and my family. I know my children will never have to say, 'Mom died of ovarian cancer.''

"Regardless of the hormone replacements I'm taking, I am now in menopause. I will not be able to have any more children, and I expect some physical changes. But I feel at ease with whatever will come, not because I am strong but because this is a part of life. It is nothing to be feared," she continued.
