Andrew Emery's lemonade stand raised almost $6,000 in two hours which he will be chipping in to help his sick baby brother now in a Pittsburgh hospital.
The 9-year-old South Carolina boy sold his lemonade at the Southern Wheels used truck dealership in Greenwood and raised $5,860 to help infant Dylan Emery who is suffering from Krabbe disease, a potentially fatal neurological condition, Fox News reported.
A GoFundMe.com page raised another $5,600, while a benefit concert on Friday collected another $1,300 for his brother's medical expenses.
"I'm gonna spend it on doctor's bills and stuff, and buy him a teddy bear too," Andrew Emery told the Index-Journal on how he plans on spending the money. "I just want to help Dylan. He's my baby brother."
The boy received plenty of support from the law enforcement community since his father, Matt Emery, is a deputy with the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office.
Matt Emery and his wife Melissa were in Pittsburgh with Dylan when Melissa thanked contributors on Facebook, the Index-Journal said.
"For the people who are doing fundraisers and donating, I will never be able to repay (you) for helping us but please know we (are) so thankful and I pray that God will bless (you) to the end of the earth," Melissa Emery wrote.
Andrew found plenty of support for his effort on social media.
