Andi Dorfman, the Georgia woman who's looking for love on the current season of the ABC staple "The Bachelorette," has quit her job as an assistant district attorney.

Dorfman, 27, first appeared as a contestant on "The Bachelor" last season, but chose to leave the show after nearly making it to the final round. She was then selected to become the "Bachelorette," a position that set her up with 25 potential suitors all vying to become her husband.

An assistant DA at the Fulton County District Attorney's Office, Dorfman initially requested a three-month leave of absence to end May 30, 2014, in order to film the TV show.

But, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Dorfman then sent a letter to her boss June 3 with her resignation.

"Although my true passion is in the prosecution of criminal cases, the opportunities which led to my original request have unexpectedly extended beyond the leave period that you granted," Dorfman wrote. "It would be unfair to my colleagues, the District Attorney's Office, and the citizens of Fulton County to ask that you hold my position any longer. Therefore, it is with great sadness that I tender my resignation effective immediately."

Dorfman went on to say that she expects her "obligations" to be over by year's end and said, "at that time, I sincerely hope you will strongly consider me for re-hire."

Dorfman, a Wake Forest Law School graduate, reportedly joined the Fulton County DA's office in November 2012.

"The Bachelorette" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
