Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., in a press release Monday touted the work of actor Gary Sinise as "a true American patriot."
Sinise, an Emmy and Golden Globe winner best known for his role as Lieutenant Dan Taylor in "Forrest Gump," has played a large role in supporting veterans with his foundation, the Gary Sinise Foundation. He held a fundraiser for the organization last Friday at the North Babylon Fire House in North Babylon, N.Y., and King joined him.
"Gary Sinise is a true American Patriot," Rep. King said. "No one has done more to support and assist America's veterans than Gary Sinise. His activities include traveling to entertain the troops, appearing at numerous veteran's events, and establishing the Gary Sinise Foundation to support veterans' causes."
The Gary Sinise Foundation was created in 2011. One program, RISE, was established to provide wounded veterans and their families with the necessary resources to overcome their new life challenges and provide home modifications, mobility devices, adaptable vehicles, and smart homes.
