Alex Trebek's Magic Johnson Mistake Face Says It All (Video)

A "Jeopardy" contestant who apparently thinks Magic Johnson played hockey in the NHL stunned Alex Trebek recently with his incorrect answer. The host's face said what he couldn't say on the air.

On a recent episode of the esteemed trivia show, contestant Joe was hot on the buzzer to give the question to this answer from the "Sports Superstars" category:

"100+ assists in an NHL season has been accomplished only 13 times, 11 times by this player."

"Who is Magic Johnson?" Joe said.

"Oh no," host Trebek replied as another contestant offered up the correct question, "Who is Wayne Gretzky?"

"We're talking about hockey, not the NBA," Trebek then told Joe.

The contestant later took to social news site Reddit to address the blunder.

"I totally missed the NHL part and focused on the assists," Joe wrote. "Just a terribly embarrassing answer all around . . . You can see me mouth the word 's***!'"

The error was just the latest hockey-themed "Jeopardy" gaffe. It's become a kind of running joke on the show that contestants have a hard time with hockey-related subject material. Here's another clip:
