Alan Dershowitz says a possible Trump impeachment on obstruction of justice would push the U.S. to the brink of a constitutional crisis that would be immediately Supreme Court-bound, according to an exclusive new Newsmax Platinum report.

Absent any evidence of an actual crime, a Trump impeachment on the basis of obstruction of justice would create a "terribly dangerous precedent," he argues.

"[W]e've never had a situation where a president has been indicted for firing somebody or pardoning somebody or telling the FBI to stop investigating somebody," Dershowitz tells Newsmax. "That’s all within the president's authority, so that would be where the constitutional crisis would arise."

Dershowitz, the renowned civil rights and criminal defense attorney and Harvard Law professor emeritus, also tells Newsmax what he would do if he were Trump's lawyer: "I would do something unprecedented, that nobody's ever done before."
