World Says TMI to Roker's 'I Pooped My Pants' at White House Revelation

By    |   Tuesday, 08 January 2013 11:49 AM EST

Judging by the reaction on Twitter, longtime NBC weatherman Al Roker provided a little too much information to the TV audience when he explained how "I pooped my pants" at the White House.

In a recent Dateline NBC interview about his new book detailing his struggle with weight loss, Roker was speaking to Nancy Snyderman about the gastric bypass surgery that had a noticeable impact on his once considerable girth.

"When you have a bypass and your bowel has been reconstructed, you think you're pretty safe," he said, relating the surgery to an experience he had at the White House. "I probably went off and ate something I wasn't supposed to."

Roker said he had to pass "a little gas" as he was leaving the White House press room, but instead surprised himself.

"I pooped my pants. Not horribly, but enough that I knew," Roker said.

The reaction to the sound bite has been overwhelming. Stories on the incident popped up everywhere, from gossip site Gawker to the Atlantic, to users on Twitter.

A lot of users found the confession cringe-worthy.

Others commented on the cost-benefit of the surgery.
Even still, many viewers were disheartened by the quality of the news.
One user was strangely jealous.
On the "Today" show on Tuesday morning, Roker responded to the reaction: "I'm kind of amazed that this is such a big deal."
