An Ahed Tamimi interrogation video showed the cause celebre Palestinian teenager at times defiant and other times frightened, but silent throughout, by The Daily Beast reported.
Tamimi's interrogation on Dec. 26 followed the posting of a viral video earlier in the month that showed the now 17-year-old girl slapping an Israeli soldier in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh, for which she was arrested without bail.
The Washington Post reported that Tamimi accepted a plea deal in which the prosecution dropped eight of the 12 charges against her, including separate accusations of stone throwing, and that she pleaded guilty to four charges, including assault of a soldier, reduced from an earlier charge of aggravated assault.
Tamimi's mother, Nariman Tamimi, accepted an eight-month plea deal after facing charges related to filming the incident.
Tamimi's attorney Gaby Lasky charged Israeli authorities wanted to make an example of Ahed Tamimi, whose family spearheads regular protests against Israeli occupation in Nabi Saleh, the Post said.
Ahed Tamimi’s deal will have her serve eight months in prison, to include three months already served in pretrial detention, along with a fine of almost $1,500, The Daily Beast said, noting the teen's trial brought complaints from international and local human rights groups.
Jewish American comedian Sarah Silverman, actor Danny Glover and NFL star Michael Bennett were among those who called for her release, the Post said.
In the interrogation video, The Daily Beast said, the teenager's expression remained blank or tired or bored, but changed when one interrogator threatened to arrest her family and friends. The website said Tamimi briefly had "a look of horror" when the subject turned to her family.
Tamimi's support team said the teenager consistently asserted her right to remain silent, including when one interrogator lectured her about following the law, The Daily Beast said.
"I'm an interrogator from Israel," the interrogator stated, per the website. "We walk in line with the law... In all the areas the law is Israeli, the law of the military. And you have to listen to the law, you and all the family."
