Abbas Alizada is being called the “Afghan Bruce Lee” for both his resemblance to his movie star idol and burgeoning martial arts talents.
Calling himself "Bruce Hazara," Alizada posts videos on social media “performing a number of Bruce Lee's classic moves and cinematic poses to the
delight of people around the world,” said the Daily Mail.
"I dream to be a champion as Bruce Lee was,"
Alizada says in an HLN video on YouTube. "And my great ambition is to be a Hollywood star."
Alizada also said most of the news out of Afghanistan is about war, and he likes being a positive story.
As Alizada’s videos have gone viral, he’s getting both encouragement and concern about whether he can live up to Lee’s image.
“Big shoes to fill my friend we will see,” one person wrote on
Alizada’s Facebook page, which he maintains under his “Bruce Hazara” name.
“Bruce, I saw your video and you are just too cool, I loved Bruce Lee, my brother used to take me to see all the films and you are just great - wish you all the luck, you deserve it x,” another person wrote.
Alizada, who is one of 10 children in a poor family, couldn’t afford to attend an academy, but a trainer
“took him under his wing,” the New York Post said.
"When I turned 16, I was trained without a trainer until I was 20," the Daily Mail quoted him. "I was training by myself in our basement as Bruce Lee, doing his actions and tactics in the basement. That hard work is what made me famous."
