During the final concert of her tour Sunday night, Adele stopped the show to tell a security guard to quit asking people to sit down and stop dancing.
The 28-year-old singer was performing at Melbourne’s Ethiad Stadium before ending her current tour when the incident occurred. After singing “Water Under the Bridge,” Adele stopped and said, “Excuse me sir? I know you work here but could you stop telling people to sit down? This is a music show,” the Mirror reported.
“If people can’t see then they can stand up,” she continued. “If you’re moaning about people dancing, what the f— have you come to a show for?”
According to the UK Daily Mail, the singer often stops her shows to say something that “wows” crowds. The Melbourne show was attended by 77,300 fans.
Adele also invited a man on stage who unexpectedly proposed to his boyfriend.
“That wasn’t planned, I had no idea!” Adele said of the proposal.
Same-sex marriage is illegal in Australia, the Daily Mail pointed out.
Earlier in the show, Adele had described her concert as “basically just two hours of crying and songs about my ex-boyfriend,” the Daily Mail reported.
The singer also confessed that she had fun on the tour in spite of herself.
“I’m not much of a touring artist,” she said. “I’d rather be home having Chinese to be honest,” she said, according to the Daily Mail.
Fans on Twitter liked Adele’s tell-off of the guard.
