Pop superstar Adele dressed up as country music legend Dolly Parton in a Twitter post earlier this week that went viral, leading fans to call for a duet between the two stars, the HuffPost reported.
Adele, 29, whose hit songs include tunes like "Rumor Has it," started the speculation with a tribute to Parton, 72, in a Twitter post Tuesday, noted the HuffPost.
The HuffPost said it was not clear what inspired Adele's tweet, but the two have been fans of each other. Parton returned the compliment with a video tweet Wednesday.
"I was knocked out," Parton said in the video that also went viral. "I was so honored. I was flattered. I loved your outfit. I thought that was great. I think I had an outfit just like that back in the day."
It was Parton who professed love for Adele in 2016 and even hinted that she would like to work with her one day in an interview with the website Digital Spy.
"I love her, love her, love her," Parton said of Adele in the interview. "I would love to do something with her. I just love her. I love how she looks, I love how she sings, I love how she is."
Fans on social media appeared to say, why not?
