Adam Sandler revealed how he nearly died on the set of the crime drama "Uncut Gems" after one of the actors got carried away during a choking scene.

In the film, Sandler plays a gambler who works as a New York City Diamond District jeweler, and, because of the fight scenes, he was used to his body taking a beating. However, one day it went too far.

The A-lister, along with directors Josh and Benny Safdie, revisited the experience in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Josh explained that it was the first time that the three actors who were "manhandling Sandler" had appeared in a movie. He praised them for their professionalism and understood why they were not able to pick up on the cues to stop.

"Sandler’s so in it, he’s so into the character that it started to actually get a little scary one or two times, because he's getting choked at one point in the scene and there were all these cues," Josh told the outlet, adding: "There was one take when Sandler was getting choked and he was trying to tap out, but the actor thought that he was just being Howard so he choked harder, and Adam couldn’t breathe."

It was only after filming for the scene was over that Sandler spoke up.

"But he never said anything till after we cut and then he was like, 'Thank you,'" Josh said.

Sandler was often beaten up on set while cameras were rolling and admitted to going home battered and bruised nearly every day, but it was all part of the job.

"The boys went at me pretty good. They beat me up I’d say maybe 120 different angles worth. And yeah I had some spots on my body," the actor said.

He would do it all again if it meant working with the team.

"I love these guys, I love 'em. I mean, they're incredible filmmakers," he said. "I love having these new friends, we talk all the time and I think they’re just great, great people."
