Keith Urban received seven Academy of Country Music Award nominations for his work on his latest album “Ripcord,” including entertainer of the year, male vocalist of the year, single record of the year, song of the year, and album of the year.
The nominations were announced by Lady Antebellum on “CBS This Morning” on Thursday for the awards ceremony, which is planned for April and will be held in Las Vegas and shown live on CBS.
Miranda Lambert was nominated for six awards, including album of the year for the double album “The Weight of These Wings,” single record of the year for “Vice,” song of the year, video of the year, and female vocalist of the year, which she has won for the last seven years in a row, according to The Associated Press.
Marren Morris, who won a Grammy for best country solo performance, also had six nominations, including album of the year for “HERO,” new female vocalist of the year, and single record of the year for “My Church.”
Urban’s album combined elements of pop, dance, and R&B with country music, and has seen four singles get into the top six on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart, the AP reported.
“Ripcord” is the first record in three years for the Australian-American singer, CNN reported. Urban performed new single “The Fighter” at the Grammys on Feb. 12 with Carrie Underwood.
“I have been a musician since I was 6 and playing on stage since I was like 7,” Urban told the AP. “I have always loved performing on stage, being an entertainer. So that category has always been the highest honor imaginable.”
