The Academy Awards website mistakenly listed Tom Hanks and Amy Adams as Oscar nominees for best actor and best actress, respectively, when actually they were not.

ABC Digital issued an apology for the error, which appeared briefly on the Oscar.com website, Entertainment Weekly reported.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Academy Awards live stream announcement correctly named Ruth Negga in best actress category for her role in the movie "Loving." Her name, though, was replaced in the Academy's website with that of Adams, a former multiple nominee who starred in the movie "Arrival."

Hanks, a two-time Oscar winner, was listed as the sixth nominee in the best actor category for his role in "Sully," when only five nominees were named on the live stream, Entertainment Weekly noted.

The mistakes were captured by some on Twitter via screengrab.

ABC Digital listed Hanks and Adams, and apparently also listed Annette Bening in the best actress category for the movie "20th Century Women," according to Variety.

"This morning, in an attempt to release breaking news as announced, ABC Digital briefly posted inaccurate nomination information on the Oscar.com website," ABC said in a statement, according to Variety. "The nominees announced by the Academy on Twitter were accurate. ABC quickly identified and corrected the errors. We apologize to the Academy, press, and fans for any confusion."
