A-Rod LinkedIn: Joins Networking Site, But Has Zero Connections

Suspended New York Yankees third baseman A-Rod has created a LinkedIn page with — as yet — zero connections.

Alex Rodriguez is serving a one-year suspension from the team for the 2014 season for allegedly taking performance-enhancing drugs. Although the A-Rod page could be fake, The Wall Street Journal talked to a LinkedIn spokesperson who said it appears to be real.

The page lists Rodriguez as founder, CEO, and president of ARod Corp., based out of Miami Beach, Florida, which is the baseball player’s hometown.

ARod Corp. is Rodriguez’s “official corporate entity,” the WSJ said, and is listed as owner of several trademarks associated with Rodriguez.

Sports Illustrated Now pointed to the bare LinkedIn profile and asked viewers to tweet suggestions on what traits could fill in the information. From suggestions like "syringe technician" to "an uncanny ability to persevere when everyone is doubting you," ideas poured in to the #SINow tag.

A-Rod will reach the end of his suspension before the beginning of the next season and possibly even by the end of this month. The question will be whether the Yankees are going to take him back.

Rodriguez has indicated he plans to return to the Yankees, but the LinkedIn profile may indicate he is making plans should he fail in his efforts to return to baseball, the New York Daily News said.

A-Rod will have three years and $61 million left on his contract when he returns. Yanks Go Yard offered the option that Rodriguez learn first base in an effort to secure a position, so he can back up Mark Teixeira.

“For A-Rod, he’s coming off multiple hip surgeries. He’s 39-years-old,” wrote Yanks Go Yard writer Jason Evans. “He can play a little third, a little first and DH a little. It’s a way to keep him fresh when he’s only played in 44 games the past two seasons. It makes him a more valuable asset to the Yankees next season if they can move him around and try and get the most they can out of him.”
