Rose McGowan was once a "proud Democrat" but now claims she "knows too much" after seeing how the Democrats and the media have allegedly downplayed sexual assault allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden.
The actress has been vocal of how she thought Democratic politicians and media outlets have handled the accusations made against Biden by Tara Reade and expressed her disappointment on Wednesday in a teary post to Twitter.
"I used to be a proud Democrat," she wrote. "I used to be a proud American."
McGowan shared that she would have "died for this damned country" and "its ideals" but now she was questioning all of it.
"I thought democracy meant … I had a right to choose those who lined up with my value system," she continued. "But what if there’s no one?"
The 46-year-old recalled how she was taught that the Democratic party and media outlets were "the good guys."
"But now I know too much and really quite a sense of loss," she wrote.
McGowan also wrote that Republicans had always been "painted as the bad guys" and she had "always seen them more as a cult" but now she views the Democrats and the media in the same light.
"I’m sad because there’s death around all corners & shadows in the daytime. It hurts."
McGowan has backed Reade as Biden's presidential campaign fervently denies her allegations and has slammed those who have not supported Reade. She recently took a swipe at Alyssa Milano for her continued support for Biden.
"This is about holding the media accountable," McGowan tweeted at Milano. "You go after Trump & Kavanaugh saying Believe Victims, you are a lie. You have always been a lie. The corrupt DNC is in on the smear job of Tara Reade, so are you. SHAME."
In a separate tweet she wrote of how her "fight is with the media" and how "the journalists and press outlets treat assault victims with their slanted & misogynistic writing directly affects how we assault victims are treated in the world."
