A 99-year-old Minnesota Vikings fan is going to her first playoff game on Sunday, thanks to the NFL team and her granddaughter who will be accompanying her to the new U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.
Millie Wall received a letter from the Vikings inviting her to the game, surprising Wall, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
"We would like to invite you, one of the biggest fans, to attend our playoff game on Sunday, Jan. 14," the letter read, according to the Star Tribune. "We know you will bring us luck as we enter into this playoff run and hope to bring it home. Thank you for the many years of supporting and cheering on our team, and making us part of your life."
The Vikings, a second-seed in the NFC playoffs, will be playing against the New Orleans Saints.
The Vikings shared video of Wall's surprise on Twitter, which was retweeted more than 1,600 times.
"This really is a dream come true for her to attend her first playoff game," said Wall's granddaughter, Ashley Wall, who helped deliver the surprise, according to the Vikings website.
Ashley Wall, who will attend the game with her grandmother, said Millie Wall had attended a few Vikings games at the old Metropolitan Stadium. She said she was looking forward to sharing the experience with her.
"I've been thinking about it," Ashley Wall said, per the Vikings' website. "Obviously this is a very exciting season for the Vikings, and I was just thinking, 'Should I be watching the game on the field, or should I be watching my grandma's reaction to that game?'
"I think it's going to just be a really great experience. We're so excited as a family to watch her and watch everything come to life."
