About 50,000 gallons of crude oil spilled onto streets near the city of Glendale from a ruptured pipe early Thursday morning, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Oil spilled over approximately half a mile and was knee high in some areas. Oil could be seen spurting into the air and cascading down streets.
Emergency crews were using sand to try to contain the spill.

A handful of commercial businesses were affected, according to The Associated Press, including a nightclub.
The leak from the 20-inch pipe on West San Fernando Road was reported around 12:15 a.m. and the oil line was remotely shut off, according to a fire department release.
No injuries were reported.
A hazardous material team reportedly was on the scene.
