A 45-foot yacht washed ashore at North Island Naval in Coronado, California, two weeks ago after a flash storm and no one has claimed it.
The yacht has an estimated value of more than $200,000 and was designed to circumnavigate the globe,
Fox 5 San Diego reported. Half buried in sand, the yacht may become the property of the federal government if no one claims it.
The condition of the 45-foot yacht continues to decline as it continues to sink into the sand.
“I’ve never seen anything like it in the 30 years I’ve been surfing in Coronado,” long board paddler Jason Ronis told Fox 5.
The owner is reportedly an elderly man who had it at a port in San Francisco. He is
believed to be out of town, The SpreadIt said.
The yacht includes solar panels and various antennae, Examiner reported.
Other things that have recently washed ashore in California include a 45-foot humpback whale carcass and more than 1,000 sea lion pups since the beginning of the year.
