A wrecked 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat in Colorado is believed to be the first of the 707-horsepower muscle cars to be totaled, and it happened about an hour after the owner drove the car off the lot.
Lance Utley, 34, was driving on Riverdale Road in Colorado when he
lost control of the Hellcat and crashed into a tree, Motor Authority reported. No one was seriously injured in the crash, but Utley was charged with careless driving.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash, and there was
no mention of excessive speeding, according to Fox Sports. There were two other passengers in the vehicle when it crashed.
The story has sparked attention and comments about handling the Dodge Charger Hellcat, which carries a 6.2-liter, eight-cylinder supercharged HEMI engine.
“Sad ending for a car, but a very powerful lesson that they shouldn’t be handled lightly, particularly the powerful ones,”
Alexander Kalogianni wrote for Digital Trends.
Twitter users commented about the wreck.
