A Finnish air force pilot died Wednesday when two Hawk jets collided midair on a training mission, the Finnish defense forces said.

The other pilot
ejected from his plane and was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries at a hospital, officials told The Associated Press. It wasn't known whether the deceased pilot had ejected from the plane. His body was discovered after a search of several hours.
The air force said that the deceased was a 30-year-old flight captain and an experienced pilot trainer.
An investigation is underway. The scrash happened in a lightly populated area of western Finland, the defense force said, and took place at 12:13 p.m. local time.
According to the air force, ejector seats have been used 27 times during accidents since 1958.
