The average American worker puts in 1,779 hours on the job each year. Allowing for two weeks of vacation, that works out to 36 hours per week on average.

Workers in six countries put in more hours — Mexico, South Korea, Greece, Chile, Russia, and Turkey.

Workers in France and Germany put in substantially fewer hours.
