Jan. 4, 2024: Forty percent (40%) of voters believe that TikTok is being used to promote divisive content about issues like the Israel-Hamas war. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 23% of voters did not believe this to be the case, and 37% of voters were not sure.
The survey also found that 36% of voters believe X (formerly Twitter) is being used to promote similar divisive content, with 34% believing the same about Facebook, 28% about Instagram, and 19% about Snapchat.
Methodology
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points. The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on December 18-19, 2023.
Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc.
Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
