The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that there will be 330 million Americans as the New Year of 2020 begins. That’s up a bit from 328 million at the beginning of 2019.

The population keeps growing because there is one new birth in the United States every 8 seconds. Additionally, every 34 seconds, a new migrant moves into the country from somewhere else around the world.

These gains are partially offset by the fact that one American dies every 10 seconds throughout the year.

Put it all together and the U.S. population grows by one person every 18 seconds.

That works out to an average population growth of 200 people every hour of every day all year long.
