August 21, 2018: Fifty-seven percent of Democrats have a favorfable view of socialism. According to Gallup, that’s little changed from two years ago.
However, the Democratic Party's favorable views of capitalism have fallen from 56 percent two years ago to 47 percent now. As a result, for the first time, Democrats now have a significantly more positive view of socialism than capitalism.
An earlier Number of the Day reported that 48 percent of Democrats now consider themselves liberals. That’s up dramatically over the past decade.
Republicans continue to hold more positive views of capitalism (71 percent favorable) and more negative views of socialism (16 percent favorable).
