Twenty-five percent of American adults expect to be asleep at midnight on New Year’s Eve. A ScottRasmussen.com national survey found that just 13 percent will be at a party, restaurant, bar, or show. Most (52 percent) will be awake at home.

Despite the holiday’s image of revelry, more people will pray than drink on New Year’s Eve. Sixty percent (60 percent) will pray today while 47 percent will drink alcohol. Partly, that reflects the reality that 43 percent of adults pray daily.

Some, of course, will both pray and drink.

When all is said and done, 16 percent expect to start the new year with a hangover. That includes fully one-third (33 percent) of adults under age 35.
