Online holiday sales are projected to reach $107.4 billion this year, according to Adobe Digital Insights (ADI). Today, Cyber Monday, is expected to be the single biggest online shopping day of the season with $6.6 billion in sales.
Online sales are growing much faster than overall retail sales. Compared to last year, online sales are expected to grow 13.8 percent, while overall retail growth will be only 3.8 percent.[1]
However, the growth of online sales is slowing down a bit. The industry experienced 17.7 percent growth in 2015 and 14.4 percent last year.

ADI also reports that 31 percent of shoppers plan to spend more online this year than last year. Based upon an analysis of over 1 trillion visits to over 4,500 retail websites, 55 million SKUs, and 12 million social mentions, ADI also made four other predictions about the 2017 holiday season:
- "Prediction 2: Consumers Will Be On The Hunt For A Bargain[2]
- Prediction 3: The Majority Of Online [Spending] This Holiday Season Will Go To Large Retailers
- Prediction 4: More Than Half Of Online Visits To Retail Sites Will Come From Mobile Devices
- Prediction 5: Nostalgia Will Play A Role In Toy Purchases"[3]
