A smartphone aimed at those with hearing difficulties advertises a ringtone that can be turned up to 90 decibels – as loud as a pneumatic drill.
The Amplicomms Powertel M9000, nicknamed the "Grandoid" because it is designed for senior citizens, also allows user to turn up the call volume to 40 decibels, about 1,000 times louder than a standard phone,
the British website Metro reports.
"The device is an easy-to-use smart mobile phone designed for the senior citizen," according the its description on Amazon.uk.
It also comes with a special SOS button that will call five predetermined numbers when pushed.
"It ensures older generations are not excluded," Ran Meyrav of Amplicomms told The Sun newspaper.
