Left's 'Values' in Netherlands Exclude the Elderly

Judging by the Opposition Media’s coverage of Wuflu deaths in nursing homes one would think the left considers the elderly to be a priceless resource globally.

In fact, they are so valuable that every effort up to and including killing the economy must be exercised to ensure their preservation.

Unfortunately, like most "values" of the left it depends on the elderly individual in question. Leftists love humanity in general. It’s specific humans they want to eliminate.

This brings us back to an ill-fated granny in a Netherlands nursing home.

We first wrote about this in October 2018. In those pre-China Flu days, families were encouraged to visit their elderly relatives. Only this time the family showed up accompanied by Dr. Death. (Complete details are here.)

The idea for this visit was to eliminate any need for future visits by putting their 74-year-old granny down. She had dementia and it probably would be cheaper for the family in the long run if grandma checked out for good.

There were complications.

The AFP reports the plan was to do a Cosby and slip a drug into granny’s coffee to keep her compliant and then Dr. Death would inject a fatal drug cocktail into her arm as she was euthanized.

Granny drank the coffee but realized something was up when the IV was shoved into her arm and she jumped out of her chair and began to struggle. This is where Dr. Death could have used some training in graveside manner. She ordered the family to hold granny down while she finished killing her.

As a result, the doctor – and we use the term loosely – was indicted.

In a true understatement government officials observed, "The doctor should have checked with the woman whether she still had a death wish by discussing this with her."

Quite.

Now the Catholic News Agency (CNA) reports on the outcome of the trial and its ominous news for the elderly who don’t get along all that well with their families:

"The Supreme Court of the Netherlands ruled on Tuesday, April 21, that it is lawful for doctors to euthanize patients with severe dementia, provided that the patient had expressed a desire to be euthanized while still legally capable of doing so."

Meaning death isn’t a joking matter for those with families whose lives might be more comfortable if you were dead. The woman "had written an advanced directive four years prior, requesting the procedure in lieu of being put in a nursing home. In the directive, she had said she wished to 'be able to decide while still in my senses and when I think the time is right'"

Only it turns out it was the family who decided it was time to pull the plug.

This type of decision means that the Netherlands is way past the "slippery slope" stage and has now leaped into the abyss. Dr. Charles Camosy, a professor at Fordham University and bioethicist, told CNA "the Netherlands has euthanized newborn infants, who are also unable to communicate a degree of suffering, for about two decades, 'it follows logically that they could say it about someone with late-stage dementia.'"

It’s more than ironic that the Dutch, many of whom are still angry with Germany for its occupation during World War II, have decided it’s fine to embrace the Third Reich’s policy of euthanasia.
