California is convinced children too young to buy a drink or a smoke are more than old enough to decide to change sexes with all the body vandalism and dangerous off-label drug use that entails.
In contrast, Texas believes irrevocable decisions being made by deluded parents and/or members of the transgender industrial complex resulting in groomed and peer-pressured children starting to "transition" is wrong.
And Texas is doing something to address the situation.
Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, has recently been transformed into a veritable social issues warrior by a strong primary opponent. (Patriots take note and don’t hesitate to use this technique to prod cocktail conservatives in your state into action.)
The Washington Examiner has details.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued an opinion last week "that certain gender–affirming procedures and treatments, including reassignment surgeries and the administration of puberty-blocking drugs, conducted on minors legally constitutes 'child abuse' in the state."
(Please note the use of Trans jargon has infiltrated even ostensibly conservative news outlets. "Gender-affirming" really means delusion indulging, since the vast majority of "trans kids" come to their senses before age 21 if they aren’t forced down the one-way path of "transitioning.")
Gov. Abbott followed that opinion with a strong letter that in no uncertain terms introduced reality into the controversy. "In the letter, Abbott says 'licensed professionals' who have direct contact with children are required to report abuse under Texas law, and those who fail to report could be subject to 'criminal penalties.'
"The governor also noted that Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) has a 'duty' to investigate parents of minors who undergo what he called "abusive gender-transitioning procedures."
This is a startling turnaround from school and family service agency policies that aid and abet misguided children by hiding the child’s turmoil and faulty decision-making from parents. And make so mistake, encouraging children to undergo surgery or irreversible drug therapy is child abuse and should be punished as such.
Naturally, any action against perverse sexual policies that exploit vulnerable children is fightin’ words for the Golden State.
Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., immediately fired a Twitter volley, "[Transgender kids] are heroes. This order is a direct assault on their wellbeing. To fearful families in Texas right now – California’s door is always open to you." Of course, that door could very well slam shut if the gender-fluxed child and his/her family didn’t have their vax cards up to date.
And that tweet is probably going to be the extent of California’s pushback.
That’s because the state already banned travel by government employees to Texas after the state banned boys pretending to be girls from using bathrooms designed solely for women.
What punishment is left?
Firing state employees caught watching a Western? Banning the sale of cowboy hats to state employees? Banning attendance at rodeos? Forcing all state cafeterias and prisons to go vegan?
A win-win approach would be for Newsom to subsidize the move of any "gender clinic" and its employees from Texas to California. That way Texas is rid of a dangerous and predatory industry while California has the opportunity to further concentrate the crazy.
