Jackson, as you know, has been desperately trying to make race the central issue in this election story. Without race as an issue Jackson has no role to play. Jackson keeps telling us about all of those blacks who were prevented from voting in Florida by evil white folks. Well, we have more details from NewsMax.com on those efforts to keep blacks away from the polls in Florida.
Blacks make up 13 percent of Florida’s population, but they amounted to 15 percent of the vote. In other words, the percentage of black votes cast in Florida exceeded their share of the population, while white voters didn’t show up at the polls in numbers anywhere near their percentage of the Florida population.
So, what’s this about keeping blacks away from the polls? Black voting participation in Florida increased by 65 percent over 1996! And blacks were kept away from the polls, Jesse?
And what about those roadblocks to keep blacks from the polls? U.S. News & World Report columnist John Leo reports, "One allegedly intimidating roadblock near Tallahassee was a routine check for faulty auto equipment that stopped 150 drivers and gave 18 warnings or citations – six to minorities, 12 to whites.
If that roadblock was set up by racist white folks to keep blacks from voting, why were they wasting all of that time writing twice as many citations for whites as for blacks?
Another roadblock, according to Leo, "turned out to be a police response to a burglary near a polling place." I guess Jackson thinks that law enforcement activities near polling places should be stopped when the polls are open so that blacks won’t be discouraged from voting.
Jesse Jackson is a dangerous, desperate demagogue. He’s not at the center of this election saga, and he can’t stand it. It’s time for responsible leaders of the black and the liberal community to disavow this fanatic’s irresponsible rantings. He’s actually willing to foment violence if that’s what it takes to get himself into the limelight here.
Jackson’s attorney, Lewis Myers Jr., appeared on "The O’Reilly Report" the other night to say that more than 16,000 blacks were denied the right to vote in Duval County. What’s this clown talking about? The only possible thing he could be talking about would be the ballots on which no votes were counted for president. And why weren’t they counted? Because there was no valid vote for president on those ballots! The people who cast these ballots (and nobody can tell if they were black or not) weren’t "denied" their right to vote. They
Remember, so far the Jackson camp has not come up with one single black person who can show that he/she was kept away from the polls by police, roadblocks, or any other conspiracy.
This is nothing less than a pathetic attempt by fading, power-hungry civil rights warlords to make this whole election saga a civil rights issue so they can have their moments in the limelight. Sad, pathetic and outrageous.
Hillary is getting a whopping $8 million advance on a new book contract. Good for her! I believe she has every right to write this book, say whatever she wants, and get as much money as she possibly can for it.
But let’s go back to 1994 and the $4 million advance Newt Gingrich was going to get for his book. Remember the firestorm that came from the Democrats on Capitol Hill and in the House?
They were concerned that the publisher for Newt’s book might end up with some issues before the Congress and Newt would be beholden, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
In the end, Newt had to forego his $4 million advance and settle for one dollar plus any royalties the book might earn. The U.S. House of Representatives then instituted an ethics law stating that no member of the House would be permitted to accept any advances for book deals – actual royalties only.
Now let’s watch this Hillary deal. Let’s see if these very same Democrats investigate Hillary’s publisher to see if they have any issues before Congress. Let’s see if the same Democrats who condemned Newt for his book advance have anything negative to say about Queen Hillary.
I think we all know how this is going to play out, don’t we?
