The goal is to give Israel the world's most-sophisticated combatant, never lost, always aware where the enemy is.
According to a report in the World Tribune:
The signal corps of the Israel Defense Forces gave a recent advance peek at this concept it is developing for its troops, whose success on the battlefield is predicated on their maintaining precise contact with one another and their headquarters.
Israel faces one serious problem in this regard: It lacks the funding and current technology to provide such hardware and software required to equip all its armed forces.
Military sources point to an increasing number of assembly lines being closed in Israel and transferred to the United States.
Under terms imposed by the United States, Israel is required to use at least 75 percent of its $2 billion in annual U.S. military aid for purchases in America.
The Israelis live with this by producing much of the hardware, such as the Elta EL\M2129 ground-surveillance radar in the United States, while developing the software at home.
