Why? Because often after winning a close election it is difficult to ascertain

Thus it is easy for others to interpret for you – and easy to fall into

And if you lose sight of what worked and what did not work in the election, then you are lost when it comes to governing. Because

Instead, he believed his positive and glowing "press clippings" and thus launched into dozens of new initiatives – almost all of which had no public support. And they all failed. And, soon, so did he and his presidency.
