This is very worrisome.
Why? Because often after winning a close election it is difficult to ascertain
Thus it is easy for others to interpret for you – and easy to fall into
And if you lose sight of what worked and what did not work in the election, then you are lost when it comes to governing. Because
In 1976 Jimmy Carter narrowly defeated Jerry Ford. The left-wing media loved Carter and began to proclaim him the greatest thing since sliced bread. Apparently Carter lost sight of
Instead, he believed his positive and glowing "press clippings" and thus launched into dozens of new initiatives – almost all of which had no public support. And they all failed. And, soon, so did he and his presidency.
Why did Bush win?

Half the country detests the manner in which Clinton has conducted his duties. His behavior has been reprehensible. Thank goodness that at least 50 percent of the American people – despite a booming economy – rejected Clinton’s filthy behavior.
But did Bush "change the face" of the GOP?
Well, he tried. The Philadelphia convention was a blatant pander to minorities. And it was an outright failure. So-called compassionate conservatism, in the end, did not amount to a hill of beans.

And among Hispanics – a target area for the Spanish-speaking Bush – he also failed miserably, even in his home state of Texas! In his 1998 re-election campaign, Gov. Bush garnered a whopping 59 percent of the Latino vote. But this year – despite the hometown boy makes good story – the Texas Latino vote for Bush dropped to 43 percent despite no Gore effort in the Lone Star State.

What G.W. Bush needs to worry about is the Time magazine revisionism. Bush
If he begins to believe his press clippings – especially when they are written by the Ted Turners of the media – then he will be entering dangerous territory.
