President Donald Trump on Sunday applauded veteran journalist Bob Woodward’s appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation” and slammed the two other reporters who appeared with him on a segment that centered on impeachment proceedings against the president.
“Good job, I must say, by Bob Woodward on “Deface the Nation,” Trump tweeted.
“The CBS no name host(ess), and other guest, Peter Baker of The Failing New York Times, were totally biased, boring and wrong (as usual), but Woodward was cool, calm and interesting. Thank you Bob!”
Woodward, known for his reporting on the Watergate scandal that led to President Richard Nixon’s impeachment, was interviewed on the show by host Margaret Brennan.
The New York Times’ Peter Baker was also being interviewed.
Woodward suggested there was more to the Ukraine controversy and also discussed Trump’s penchant for winning.
“Well, you-- you need to try to step back and look at who he is, and he's somebody who hates to lose,” he told Brennan when asked of Trump’s behavior.
“He's got to win. I have a scene in my book 'Fear', where they're talking about -- Trump is talking about the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. And he says -- and Trump says, this is about leader versus leader, man versus man, me versus Kim. In other words, it's personal combat. They're gladiators in the coliseum to a certain extent and so he's not somebody who is going to bend on this. What I think we need to worry about is it's a war.”
