Technology improvements are needed at the nation's border to help keep the United States safe, Rep. Will Hurd said Thursday, and those can come at the same time a solution is reached for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
"I think we should solve this problem of DACA," the Texas Republican told Fox Business' "Mornings with Maria" host Maria Bartiromo.
"Over a million young men and women who have only known the United States of America as their home, they're contributing to our history, our culture, our background."
Meanwhile, "we can solve this problem and do border security at the same time," said Hurd, whose district covers more of the border with Mexico than any other representative's does.
"We need to be utilizing a lot more technology on the border," he said. "People think that we have the latest and greatest technology on the border in order to keep our folks safe. We don't."
Some of the technology being used is more than 20 years old.
"We should be able to able to solve this problem together," said Hurd.
