WH Slams 'Ridiculous' Question on Trump Stepping Down

WH Slams 'Ridiculous' Question on Trump Stepping Down

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday bashed a reporter's question on whether President Donald Trump should consider quitting in light of recent developments, particularly involving the Russia probe.

"No, and I think that's an absolutely ridiculous question," Sanders responded to a question from April Ryan, White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks Inc.

Sanders was in a particularly heated session with reporters at the daily briefing, who peppered her with questions surrounding the FBI raid Monday on President Trump's longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

Several reporters actually yielded questions to one another as they tried to pin Sanders on specifics about the raid and related topics, including a $130,000 payment Cohen made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Then came Ryan's question:

"With all of this turmoil, particularly last week, has the president at any time thought about stepping down before or now?"

After Sanders ripped the query as "absolutely ridiculous" and tried to move on, Ryan twice shouted: "It's not ridiculous."

Sanders did not address the remark.
