The White House said Tuesday that it supports a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki made the comment at a news briefing.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday lawmakers will establish an outside, independent commission to review the "facts and causes" related to the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol. Former President Donald Trump was acquitted in an impeachment trial last weekend of inciting the attack.
