Children at a Halloween party at a building in the White House complex were encouraged to help “build the wall” with their own personalized bricks, according to Yahoo News.
But the event seemed more trick than treat to some partygoers.
“Horrified. We were horrified,” one person who asked not to be named told Yahoo News.
The Oct. 25 party took place inside an office building used by White House staff, and included the families of executive-branch employees and VIP guests inside and outside government, Yahoo News reported.
Photos of the “build the wall” mural were posted by Yahoo News, which noted other offices had apolitical decorations such as cobwebs, carnival games and a mock candy shop.
Vice President Mike Pence attended the Halloween party last week, with his office telling Yahoo News it had an activity allowing children to build and fly their own paper airplanes.
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump handed out candy to kids visiting the White House for its annual Halloween festivities at an unrelated event on Monday.
