Amid calls from the media to be tested for coronavirus, President Donald Trump assured reporters he is healthy and the White House doctor does not see reason to be tested at this point.
"I don't think it's a big deal," Trump told reporters Tuesday. "I would do it. I don't feel any reason [to be tested]. I feel extremely good."
Trump added "it's not a big deal to get tested" for him, despite having multiple interactions with people who have self-quarantined after attending CPAC last week.
"It's something I would do, but again, I spoke to the White House doctor, terrific guy, talented guy," Trump continued. "He said he sees no reason to do it. There's no symptoms, no anything.
"And, you know what, if there were, you people would be the first to know it."
Trump added he has been briefed in wide range of contingencies for the coronavirus outbreak in the United States, and pointed to the impact of the flu virus having killed far more people than the 26 victims of coronavirus in the U.S. to date.
"With all that being said, we're taking this unbelievably seriously, and think we're doing a really good job," Trump concluded, referring to Vice President Mike Pence and his coronavirus task force.
