President Donald Trump took to Twitter early Friday morning to praise his "very successful" overseas trip, saying it saved the United States "billions of dollars and millions of jobs."
In a pair of tweets posted as he and his entourage head to italy for the annual Group of Seven meeting, Trump first tweeted that he'd arrived in Italy for the summit and that the trip wrapped up a successful week:
He then tweeted that he's getting ready to engage the G7 leaders on "economic growth, terrorism, and security:
However, Trump is likely to face pressure at the summit, according to a senior Italian diplomat. He said that while Trump and leaders from the other six countries involved — Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Japan and Canada — agree on many issues, but Washington still stands alone on commerce and the environment. He also said the other members are having difficulty convincing Trump on free trade.
European diplomats also expect leaders will push Trump hard on the Paris climate agreement.
