President Donald Trump blasted a controversial New York Times column by an unnamed administration official and again called it "treason."
His comments came in an interview with Fox News’ Pete Hegseth prior to Thursday’s rally in Montana. Portions of the interview were broadcast on Friday’s "Fox & Friends."
"Number one, the Times should have never done that because really what they have done is virtually, you know, it's treason," Trump said.
"The White House is truly, as you would say, a well-oiled machine," he said. "It is working so well."
Trump was asked if he was any closer to identifying the author of the column.
"It may not be a Republican," he said. "It may not be a conservative. It may be a deep state person that's been there a long time. It's a very unfair thing. But it’s very unfair to our country and to the millions of people that voted for us."
It is not the first time Trump has called the critical column in the newspaper treason. Shortly after the column was published, he tweeted a one-word question: "TREASON?"
