President Donald Trump took a jab at global warming late Monday, urging it to “come back fast” as temperatures are set to dip to below freezing in the Midwest.
“In the beautiful Midwest, windchill temperatures are reaching minus 60 degrees, the coldest ever recorded,” Trump tweeted. “In coming days, expected to get even colder. People can’t last outside even for minutes. What the hell is going on with Global Waming? Please come back fast, we need you!”
Trump has long dismissed global warming, and in late November said he wasn’t among the “believers” who see climate change as a pressing problem.
“One of the problems that a lot of people like myself, we have very high levels of intelligence but we’re not necessarily such believers,” Trump said during an interview with The Washington Post following the release of a dire National Climate Assessment that said global warming is intensifying throughout the country and will challenge the economy, environment and human health.
“As to whether or not it’s man-made and whether or not the effects that you’re talking about are there, I don’t see it,” he added.
