President Donald Trump on Monday fired a brand-new shot at special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, calling it "a total witch hunt."
Axios reports that Trump's angry missive came after he watched Sean Hannity's appearance on the Fox News program "Fox & Friends."
On that show, Hannity dismissed as "fake news" reports that Trump had intentions to fire Mueller and also ripped the FBI and the Justice Department, saying they have "serious issues, crimes that really need to be investigated."
The Russia probe "never should have happened. President is 1000% right. There was never any Trump-Russia collusion. I'm very concerned," Hannity continued.
Trump also gave a shout out to Hannity for his appearance on the Fox morning show:
Trump on Sunday lashed out at former FBI Director James Comey and ex-Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, accusing the fired agency leaders of lying — and bashed special counsel Robert Mueller's investigative team as deeply partisan.
The condemnation came in a fiery tweetstorm — fueled by a discussion on "Fox & Friends" — amid a roiling controversy set off by Friday night's ouster of McCabe and reports of his handing over memo's he had written after every meeting with the president.
