President Donald Trump has insisted he has never used the words “mentally retarded” to describe someone – but he’s wrong, HuffPost reported.
Trump had taken issue with journalist Bob Woodward’s book, “Fear: Trump in the White House.” Woodward said Trump used the insult on Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
On Tuesday, Trump tweeted: “The already discredited Woodward book, so many lies and phony sources, has me calling Jeff Sessions “mentally retarded” and “a dumb southerner.” I said NEITHER, never used those terms on anyone, including Jeff, and being a southerner is a GREAT thing. He made this up to divide!”
In a 2004 interview with Howard Stern, Trump used the words in describing an unnamed golf pro. However, he caught himself and stopped before completing the derogatory phrase.
“I have a golf pro, who is mentally re…I mean, he’s like really not a smart guy,” he told Stern.
