Sebastian Gorka left the White House because he decided it was "time to do the best I can as a private citizen outside the building" to push President Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again," agenda.
"We came in on a message that was encapsulated in 'Making America Great Again,' Gorka told host Steve Malzberg Saturday in an interview for WMAL Radio in Woodbridge, Va.
"The people that made that victory possible for the president – many of them have been systematically undermined, many of them on the national council who have actually been fired or shut out and the agenda is losing steam within the building. The president is still committed. For those people around him inside the building, we can be more effective on the outside.”
Gorka, who was a close ally of Steve Bannon, resigned as Trump’s deputy assistant Friday. Bannon, Trump's former chief strategist, was forced to resign last week.
"Myself, Steve Bannon, we will have far greater power outside the building and that’s the best way to serve the president," said Gorka.
Bannon rejoined Breitbart News and might bring Gorka along, according to reports.
"Steve Bannon is the most powerful man in America outside of the Oval Office and he'’s going to use that for good," said Gorka of Bannon's position. "The left better hold on to their seatbelts."
