The White House reportedly had trouble finding a hotel in Hamburg, Germany for President Donald Trump for the G-20 summit until the city's government stepped in and provided some space.
According to BuzzFeed News, all of the city's top hotels were booked by other world leaders when the White House began searching for a room. The idea of staying in Berlin and making the 160-mile trip via helicopter before and after each day's session was briefly considered as another option.
BuzzFeed reports that Hamburg's government stepped in and offered up its official Senate guest house for Trump. Members of Trump's staff, BuzzFeed notes, will stay at the U.S. Consulate General in Hamburg.
New York Magazine cited a German news report as saying Trump wanted to stay at The Four Seasons in Hamburg. That hotel, however, is taken up by Saudi Arabia's King Salman.
The Trump Organization does not own any hotels in Hamburg.
The G-20 summit will take place Friday and Saturday and is the 12th time the Group of 20 has gotten together since it was formed in 1999.
