Tesla CEO Elon Musk is one of at least 200 members named to President Donald Trump’s new economic advisory councils created to help reopen the U.S. economy.
The White House announced the members of the Great American Economic Revival Industry Groups on Wednesday.
Musk in 2017 quit two White House advisory councils in protest over Trump’s removal of the United States from the Paris climate accord, telling U.S. governors if he would have stayed on the councils, “it would be saying that wasn’t important, but I think it’s super important.”
Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Apple’s Tim Cook are also members of the group, which the White House announced Wednesday.
"These bipartisan groups of American leaders will work together with the White House to chart the path forward toward a future of unparalleled American prosperity," the White House said in a release.
The list of advisers also includes key executives from the retail, banking, energy, hospitality, sports, tech, real estate and manufacturing industries.
Trump has largely projected optimism in the nation’s fight against the coronavirus, which has infected more than 840,000 people in the U.S. and killed nearly 47,000.
