Donald Trump says he has lost billions of dollars in personal wealth since becoming president, but it is worth it.

“It’s cost me billions,” he said in an interview on television’s “Fox & Friends.”

“I said to one of my friends, a very wealthy friend: ‘I bet you its cost me $2-3 billion and it’s worth every penny of it.’  I don’t need the money. It’s worth every penny because I’m doing so much for the country.

“What I’ve done in terms of costs, what I’ve done in terms of rebuilding the military… We’re rebuilding the military. Very shortly we’ll have the strongest military we’ve ever had.

“Is it all worth it? It really is worth it. Look, I’ve done a great job.”

And he added the crowds attending his rallies across the nation would not show up if they disagreed with his assessment.

“They see the difference when they pick up $2,000-$3,000 more from taxes.,” he said.  “If I didn't do a great job, I would have said: Wow, that was a mistake.’ But I've done a great job. We're really set to do other incredible things people said they could never be done.”
