A day after surviving a second assassination attempt in roughly two months, former President Donald Trump said "the bullets are flying" due to "communist Left Rhetoric."
Trump took to Truth Social on Monday afternoon to post a lengthy comment in which he accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of using "false statements" and "lawsuits" to take "politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust."
"The Rhetoric, Lies, as exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC Debate, and all of the ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe's, then Kamala's, Political Opponent, ME, has taken politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust. Because of this Communist Left Rhetoric, the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse! Allowing millions of people, from places unknown, to INVADE and take over our Country, is an unpardonable sin," the Republican presidential nominee posted before going to all capital letters.
"OUR BORDERS MUST BE CLOSED, AND THE TERRORISTS, CRIMINALS, AND MENTALLY INSANE, IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM AMERICAN CITIES AND TOWNS, DEPORTED BACK TO THEIR COUNTIES OF ORIGIN. WE WANT PEOPLE TO COME INTO OUR COUNTRY, BUT THEY MUST LOVE OUR NATION, AND COME IN LEGALLY AND THROUGH A SYSTEM OF MERIT. THE WORLD IS LAUGHING AT US AS FOOLS, THEY ARE STEALING OUR JOBS AND OUR WEALTH. WE CANNOT LET THEM LAUGH ANY LONGER. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
The FBI said Trump was the target of "what appears to be an attempted assassination" at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, just nine weeks after the Republican presidential nominee survived another attempt on his life.
Secret Service agents opened fire Sunday after seeing a person with a firearm near Trump International Golf Club while the former president was golfing. No injuries were reported. Officials say the person fled in an SUV and was later apprehended by local law enforcement.
He was identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, three law enforcement officials told The Associated Press. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.
At a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, Trump was grazed in the right ear when a gunman fired on him at a campaign rally. That shooter was killed in return fire by security agents.
